His Early Journey

Hubert was born in Switzerland. When he became a young child, he already had a vision; he wanted to be a pilot. He didn’t want to be just any pilot, he wanted to be a fighter pilot for the Swiss Air Force.

As soon as he was old enough, he started to fly gliders. He was the youngest kid certified in his country as he was given a license three months before the legal age. Soon after that, he also received his license for general aviation.

The Road to Fighter Pilot

At 16 years old, he entered the selection process to become a fighter pilot. The odds were against him as there were 3,000 other applicants. Unfortunately, the Swiss Air Force only needed 6. After enduring 5 years of a rigorous selection process, as well as training, he received his wings at the young age of 22. He started flying the F-5 Tiger then the F/A-18 Hornet.

high PERFORMance

Very early in his career, Hubert started to train pilots and became one of the top instructors in the Swiss Air Force. He provided tactical expertise and leadership to the Swiss Tactics Development Team as a Weapons Flight Instructor.

Hubert loved flying and training with other nations. He was deployed in various training operatives in France, England, Norway, Italy, and the USA.

He realized that his “super-power” was to create and launch projects. He developed procedures and introduced a training program for Air-to-Air refueling to the Swiss Air Force. He also initiated the planning and coordination of Air-to-Air Refueling operations internationally.

He was incredibly passionate and worked closely with his friend and engineer “Gerry”. Together they developed and enhanced software for the F/A-18 on an international level.

Leadership

Throughout his career, he led many international training campaigns abroad as Commander or Chief Pilot. The two detachments he enjoyed the most was the night flying in Norway and tactical training over the North Sea. From this, he became Division Leader and Mission Commander.

Hubert was the team lead in an international project designing a revolutionary debriefing system that was later introduced in the NAVY and USMC’s squadrons.

And, as previously mentioned, he was the first instructor to introduce and train Swiss pilots the air-to-air refueling procedure. It was a joint operation with the French Air Force.

Swiss Liaison Officer

The opportunity came about for Hubert to work in the United States as a Swiss Liaison Officer. He worked for more than 10 years on various international projects related to the F/A-18.

During that time, he discovered three activities that changed his life forever: yoga, self-development study, and scuba diving.

Within the next 14 years, he became a yoga teacher volunteering in his community, a dedicated Vipassana meditation practitioner, a master instructor in scuba diving, an accomplished technical diver going in very deep waters, and a mentor for the youth.
